Ms. Preuss's Class
WELCOME!!!!
It is the beginning of a great new school year! Students are getting into the routine and understanding the expectations of fifth grade.
In Reading students are reading a story each week from the textbooks and tested near the end of the week on vocabulary and comprehension. Also students are reading the novel Poppy in groups during class time and participating in activities related to the novel.
For Spelling students are required to complete workbook pages by Thursday and then tested on Friday.
Students have also began reviewing their writing and grammar skills. In grammar students will practice skills in their workbooks and for writing I will incorporate the six traits writing skills to enhance their writing.
In Science students are practicing utilizing the scientific method and have just completed chapter 1 quiz. We have 2 more chapters and then students will be tested on Unit 1, Science and Technology.
In Math students have reviewed place value and are now working on decimals.
