Mrs. Blasinski's Classroom Notes
PE/Health
Students have been busy working on their soccer skills in 5th grade. Dribbling, passing, shooting and trapping were focused on through skill practice and games. First through 4th grade demonstrated skills in Volleyball bumping, setting and underhand serve. Younger students practiced these skills during the activity Messy backyard and the older students played Newcomb and Real volleyball to develop their skills. Rotation was practiced at all levels as well as game rules. I was delighted at their ability to work together by following the rules. All students have worked in stations of DDR, Fitness, Eye toy, and bowling. Skills of rhythm and coordination, accuracy, muscular strength and endurance were practiced during this station week!
Health will be coming up along with parent teacher conferences. Please feel free to stop by the gym and say hello.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Gobble Gobble,

PE 2008-2009
Welcome back! In PE, Mrs. Blasinski has been fortunate to have a student teacher from Trinity International University and her name is Ms. Gilanyi. She has been slowing taking over the PE classes and is doing a fantastic job teaching your children. The last 3 weeks we have been busy working on low organized games to help kids Be Safe, Cooperate, and have fun! These games include Messy Backyard, boundary ball, star wars, pin blast, capture the pin, watch it, battleship and poison ball!
The students have also begun Physical Fitness testing. We use the Presidents Challenge assessment criteria for our Physical Fitness. The tests include Height and Weight, 1 minute sit-ups test, shuttle run, sit and reach, flexed arm hang, pull-ups, push-ups and Mile run/walk, and 1/2 mile run for 1st and 2nd grade. Please ask your children about fitness testing. During the testing we worked in centers and took part in Dance Dance Revolution and Eye Toy games played on Play Station 2, Monkey bars, used pedometers at a walking/running station and worked on our rhythm skills with jump ropes.
My plan this year is to keep the children active during PE to help them stay fit and healthy. Please continue to exercise and play with your children at home and on the weekends. Make healthy food choices as a family, and get plenty of rest!
